A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between Earth and

the sun, completely blocking the sun’s face, and this highly anticipated

celestial event is scheduled to occur directly over southern Illinois in spring 2024.

Mt. Vernon is in the direct path of totality, which will make our community a sought-after tourism destination, and Cedarhurst is leaning in with 

TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE ARTS!

This full slate of eclipse-related programs caters to all ages and interests.

The weekend will culminate with a Viewing Party held on the

Cedarhurst grounds on Monday, April 8, 2024 when the sky darkens 

and the phenomenon occurs.
