OPERATIONS TEAM MEMBER – CLEANING COORDINATOR

Company: Do you want to work at the most beautiful place in southern Illinois? There’s a lot happening at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts, and we are hiring! The museum is currently accepting applications for a full-time Custodian/Operations team member who can support the Director of Operations in cleaning and maintaining the buildings at Cedarhurst.

Description: This position will specialize in cleaning and organizing, ensuring day-to-day cleanliness of the Mitchell Museum, Shrode Art Center, and other campus buildings at Cedarhurst. Other responsibilities include deep cleaning tasks and storage and inventory management. As part of the Operations team, this employee will also assist with departmental responsibilities such as opening and closing facilities, event staffing, general maintenance, holiday light installation, and more. We are looking for a can-do individual who will enhance the visitor experience at Cedarhurst! This position joins a team of four and reports to the Director of Operations.

General duties:

  • Day-to-day cleaning and sanitation of museum buildings
  • Window cleaning
  • Coordinate and execute deep cleaning projects
  • Organize and inventory of museum supplies
  • Open and close Cedarhurst campus
  • Set up and tear down of museum events
  • Event staffing, back of house
  • Ground work, such as planting, weed removal, etc.
  • Assist departmental directors with odd jobs and errands
  • Interact with guests, volunteers and staff in a positive manner
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

Valid driver’s license

High school diploma, college or technical training a bonus

Ability to follow both written and verbal directions and act independently to complete tasks

General knowledge of cleaning supplies and processes

General physical endurance, including the ability to bend, pull, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs

Compensation and Hours

This is a full-time position. Starting pay is $16/hour and may increase based on experience and skills.

Typical workweek averages 36 hours and includes a weekend rotation. Some evening hours are required depending on museum events and rentals.
