ABOUT THE EXHIBIT:
This experimental exhibition features artists from three southern Illinois universities.
Students from the respective universities are tasked with selecting 12 works of art from their peers to be featured in the exhibition.
Students representing all three universities will meet at Cedarhurst to collaborate and curate the exhibition gallery layout and installation with the guidance of Rusty Freeman, Cedarhurst’s Director of Visual Arts.
The goal of this experimental approach to the exhibit is to give the students real life experiences of seeing their work in a gallery setting, and understand further and deeper how the art museum context affects the aesthetics and meanings of their individual works of art. Rusty will guide the student team in thinking about how to present an exhibition in such a way as to guide the viewer through the works, showing contrasts and comparisons, highlighting themes, and emphasizing key works.
