DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

The museum is currently accepting applications for a full-time Director of Operations who can lead a team of four (4) to maintain the buildings, grounds, and systems at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts, while effectively supporting museum programs and activities.
Description: The Director of Operations oversees all operational aspects of the Cedarhurst campus, ensuring proper maintenance of the buildings and grounds and supervising the logistical operations of the organization. This all-inclusive position manages a team of four (4) employees to support the campus and its various activities. We are looking for a can-do leader to join the Cedarhurst team and support our mission of providing art, culture, and community for all. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities:
- Develop annual operations plan with correlating budget(s).
- In consultation with Executive Director, hire and supervise operations team members to manage all operational aspects of the Cedarhurst campus.
- Work with fellow Directors to define program needs, then create schedules and assign work for operations team members.
- Coordinate the preparation of facilities for program needs, special events, facility rentals, and other functions.
- Provide support for gallery and sculpture installations and conservation/maintenance of artworks.
- Provide regular review and upkeep of buildings and grounds.
- Develop and implement effective storage systems for museum supplies/inventory.
- Negotiate prices and contracts with suppliers for appropriate materials and services.
- Oversee onsite contractors and vendors.
- Assess and address matters of safety and accessibility for visitors and staff.
- Oversee Disaster Plan and readiness, providing leadership in first response and security matters.
- Attend weekly Team Meetings to develop ideas and collaborate with fellow staff members, and attend scheduled Counselor and Trustee meetings to make progress reports.
- Interact with guests, volunteers, and staff to ensure a positive visitor experience.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
College degree preferred, but would consider trade skills and/or work experience in lieu of formal education.
Leadership experience, such as managing a team or special project.
Some knowledge or specialty skills in areas such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, machinery, grounds maintenance, budgeting skills, security, and/or basic engineering skills such as sculpture foundation design.
Experience with HVAC systems preferred.
General physical endurance, including the ability to bend, pull, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs
Compensation and Hours
This is a full-time, salaried position with a pay range of $50,000 – $65,000, based on qualifications and experience.
Typical workweek averages 40 hours and includes a weekend rotation. Some evening hours are required depending on museum events and rentals.
