About the exhibit

During the month of September and October 2023, K-5th grade students, participating in the ArtTime Afterschool program were inspired by ceramic artist, Harris Deller.

Art instructors, Carrie Stover and Kristina Klein taught the students in a variety of media about Line, Shape, and Color. The highlight of the exhibit is a collection of whimsical ceramic sculptures as well as works on paper, that were made in a likeness of Harris’s artwork.

Harris Deller is a professional ceramic artist who lives in Carbondale, IL. He was a professor of Ceramics at SIU-C for many years. Currently, he has an exhibit of his artwork in the Regenhardt Gallery at Shrode Art Center.

Amazing After School Art is an annual exhibition that highlights artwork created on Cedarhurst’s campus, at the Shrode Art Center, by children who live in Mt. Vernon and Jefferson County.
