ABOUT THE EXHIBIT
The Shrode Photography Competition and Exhibition is a juried competition open to artists 18 years of age and older living in southern Illinois south of Interstate 70, including Charleston, IL. Eligible media accepted included photography created with photographic film, and digital images.
182 photographs were entered in this year’s competition from 46 different artists, representing 30 southern Illinois communities! 35 works were accepted representing 25 artists. We are delighted that so many people in the region are involved in the art of photography and that we are able to offer this challenge.
Awards include cash prizes for Best of Show, 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place and Honorable Mention Certificates.
ABOUT THE JUDGE
A St. Louis native, Donald McKenna. graduated with honors from the photography department of the Kansas City Art Institute. Don, now retired from his commercial studio, began his fifty plus year career in photography as a photo lab technician. Among his many professional experiences; he started and directed a corporate audio visual and photography department and taught at the college level. For the last 6 years Don has led the curatorial team for The International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum in St. Louis, Missouri. McKenna continues to exhibit his award-winning photography which can also be found in collections in the United States and abroad. www.donaldjmckenna.com
