Hubble’s Magnificent Universe – Images from the Hubble Space Telescope

Humans have looked up into the stars for thousands of years and have been naming, tracking, and studying celestial bodies for almost as long. In 1990, this endeavor took a giant leap forward with the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope, which has allowed scientists to look deeper into the universe with greater clarity than ever before. Astronomers have hailed the images sent to Earth by the space telescope as invaluable tools for determining the age and structure of the universe and for investigating the behavior of celestial bodies such as stars, galaxies, and nebulae. At the same time, many in the general public have praised these images as some of the most beautiful and moving of our time.
